1/13/2024 0 Comments Usb overdrive for os 910.3 or 10.4 are the only versions that I would recommend using on this machine, 10.4 if possible as there's very little support even for 10.3 these days. That is true, however 10.4 is the best OS in terms of compatibility these days and shouldn't be any slower than 10.3 (close all the widgets and disable the Spotlight indexer if need be) - I would stay well clear of 10.1, it is very old and OS X in those days was little better than beta. ![]() To install 10.4.x requires the use of XPostFacto (not something I would recommend to someone not familiar with Macs). before recommending 10.4, please realize that a PowerBook G3/333 (Lombard) is only supported up to 10.3.9. We should try not to steer inxsfan92 onto any wild goose chases if at all possible (though why he is asking these questions here is beyond me). not only have I been servicing these PowerBooks for more than ten years, I own a ton of them (two PowerBook G3 Wallstreets, two PowerBook G3 Lombards and one PowerBook G3 Pismo). Plus my guess is that Classilla is memory starved (memory has to be manually allocated for each application by the user in the Get Info panel in pre-Mac OS X systems). but I doubt that any application is going to speed up browsing that much, a G3 at 333 MHz isn't the fastest system. If you don't buy the memory from some place that knows the difference, you'll be gambling on it's compatibility.Īs for browsers, there is also Netscape 7.02 and Mozilla 1.3.1. To install 10.4.x requires the use of XPostFacto (not something I would recommend to someone not familiar with Macs).Īdditionally, the maximum amount of memory for that system is 512 MB (two 256 MB SO-DIMMs), and it is EXTREMELY picky about what memory you put into it (the wrong type of 256 MB SO-DIMM might be seen as 128 MB or not at all). ![]()
